Our last concert, on 10 June 2017

St Sepulchre-without-Newgate, Holborn Viaduct

A superb evening of music performed by this dynamic collection of women’s voices: the angelic Duo Seraphim by Victoria, the contemplative calm of Poulenc’s Litanies à la Vierge Noire, Schumann’s ethereal In Meeres Mitten, the luscious harmonies of Les Sirènes by Lili Boulanger, plus witches and sprites galore! A phenomenal blend of voices: from Heaven to Earth - an exquisite journey spiced with solos and instrumental interludes.

"The sounds you are able to make comprise everything from brilliant to luscious, and from exquisite to wild, and the level of sheer technical musicianship is of the very highest."  Jeremy White, composer and singer

"What a smashing concert! A really interesting, varied, programme performed to the highest standard with great energy by Gloriana under Debbie's excellent leadership. Congratulations to everyone involved!"

"Gloriana brings together first class singers to create an enchantingly beautiful and uplifting selection of music. A thoroughly enjoyable concert!"
Felicia & Oly

"The Gloriana choir has got off to a great start with a varied programme of music for women’s voices. The choir has already built up a fine cohesive tone and is well at home in music from a range of periods and styles. Offsetting the group work were a number of outstanding individual voices who gave us some memorable solos. Much of the choir’s work is a cappella but variety was provided by piano and harp accompaniment and we also had an eerie accompaniment in the form of wine glass sonorities, helping to conjure up the northern lights. A fine start and I look forward to hearing them explore this repertoire."

"This was a high calibre choir with great solo contributions. The church was full with a very enthusiastic audience.  Special congratulations to the conductor, Deborah Miles-Johnson. An entertaining evening."

"What a fabulous concert. We loved it all! When is the next one?"
Cath and Sarah

"I really enjoyed the concert. Gloriana made a really rich and textured sound. Lovely Tchaikovsky duet too; the two voices worked so well together with the two flautists."
